Top employment lawyer to give tips at event
Head of employment at Midlands law firm Berryman, Ginny Hallam, is keynote speaker at a ‘Beating the Odds’ seminar next week, run for local businesses by Nottingham-based independent insurance and financial adviser, The Wilson Organisation.
Ginny will investigate some of the steps towards mitigating the potential risks of recruitment for a business, but not at the expense of attracting good employees, and share ideas on the most effective terminology employers should use in employment contracts which will contribute to minimising the risks to the business of a contract terminating, without compromising its attractiveness to the employee.
Wilsons' MD Charlotte Prow explains: "Traditionally it has been the view that when it comes to making business decisions, the greater the level of risk taken, the greater the rewards will be. However, this is certainly not the case today, with many businesses battling to minimise risk - but in so doing, losing potential revenue for their companies.
"This penultimate session in our ‘Beating the Odds' series of seminars will demonstrate how substantial rewards can be gained by controlling risks effectively in business areas including sales, managing employees, running benefits and insurance programmes, all topics which will be greatly enhanced with an insight from Ginny, one of the regions leading employment lawyers. Delegates will come away armed with practical tips on how to apply various strategies and lessen risk in a more effective way - enabling them to focus on growth and reward for the business."
Wilsons' Simon Hellier and Alan Johnson will focus on how to effectively manage risks in further key areas of a business, such as health and safety, insure a business against long-term absenteeism or death of an employee, and will feature case study examples to demonstrate how employers can cost-effectively insure against certain risks, to allow more focus on growth and reward.
This session takes place on Thursday 21st January 2010 and the Wilsons' Beating the Odds series of seminars concludes on the 25th February with a session tackling ‘Beating the personal taxman', in time for the tax year end. Both events are complimentary, take place at The Carriage Hall, Perkins Restaurant, Nottingham, from 12 noon to 2.15pm, and include lunch.
