Award double for Tamatanga

Urban Indian canteen-style eatery Tamatanga has been named Best Newcomer and Outstanding Value restaurant in this year’s Nottingham Restaurant Awards, sponsored by insurance, financial and risk management advisers The Wilson Organisation.

Despite opening its doors for business as the UK's credit crunch began to bite in 2008, Tamatanga's fast and funky service and value-for-money tasty menu has proved to appeal to lunchtime and evening diners.

Tamatanga managing director Aman Kular, comments: "I really believed we were strong contenders for these two categories in this year's Nottingham Restaurant Awards, and am thrilled that we have indeed picked up these awards. As all the Awards are voted for by the public - and almost 40,000 votes were cast this year - it makes this recognition even more important and rewarding."

The smoking ban, fierce supermarket discounting on alcohol, rapidly rising running costs and the credit crunch, make running a hospitality business today tougher than ever before, and the focus on maximising the return on investment has never been sharper. Aman comments: "When we first began work on site at The Cornerhouse and prepared for our opening, I quickly realised the benefit of working with advisers who understand the hospitality sector and take time to appreciate the idiosyncrasies of the day-to-day running of the business.

"Buying off-the-shelf advice doesn't always guarantee value for money," he says. "Thanks to the probing and challenging questions posed by Mark Wilson at The Wilson Organisation, our commercial insurance solution has proved to be extremely cost effective, as we have a bespoke insurance package that matches the needs and operation of Tamatanga."

Mark Wilson comments: "The economic downturn and credit crunch makes it inevitable that people will dine out less frequently, and we appreciate that for all eateries, both new and established, it's vital to ensure maximum return on the investment. Professional advisers must not only give the best advice at the most competitive cost, but with support and assistance in other areas related to the business. It's all about adding value for money, which is what differentiates proactive advice from ‘remote, off the shelf product' provision."

Wilsons joint MD Charlotte Prow adds: "It's fantastic to see Tamatanga recognised in the Awards this year, speaking as both headline sponsor of the Awards for the second time in 2009, but also as Tamatanga is a valued client of Wilsons.

"The Awards have once again served to remind everyone of the outstanding food and dining available in and around Nottingham, which boasts an amazingly diverse choice of really great places to eat and the firm has once again delighted in the opportunity to underline its commitment and support for the regions great restaurants and bars."
