Staff engagement key to survival
Hints and advice on how to retain and motivate key people who make a significant contribution to an organisations’ competitive edge in the present economic and trading conditions, will be revealed at a lunchtime event run by The Wilsons Organisation.
The ‘Keeping your key people' session takes place on the 20th May at The Carriage Hall, Perkins Restaurant, and is the third in the ‘Survival to Success' series of events being run by Wilsons for local businesses.
The event will feature the first-hand experiences and views on how to retain key staff from local entrepreneur Chris Prentice, owner and founder of Trekmates, a specialist outdoor accessories manufacturer that has its head office in Nottingham.
Paul Stevens, Employee Risk Manager of Norwich Union will outline how protecting and encouraging employee health and a healthy lifestyle through employee benefit programmes can make a vital contribution to keeping the business fit too.
"Ensuring continued competitive edge through and out of a recession is vital to a business' survival," says Wilson's Joint MD and CEO of the firm's Financial Services Company, Annabel Prow.
"Many companies have already faced down-sizing and redundancy but will doubtless be determined to keep key sales, technical and customer relationship employees. The challenge now is how to keep them, and keep them motivated, and at the same time protect them from competitors keen to poach the skills of these key individuals to give them the edge in the market.
"This session will demonstrate first-hand successful techniques used in retaining people. In addition, we will ensure delegates understand how tax-efficient employee benefit programmes present a realistic and cost-effective means to retaining and motivating people."
She adds: "Wilsons was voted Nottingham's ‘fittest company' in the ‘Shape up Notts Workplace Challenge 2008', so as an organisation, we both embrace and recognise the benefits of getting a business and its people in shape!"
The ‘Survival to Success' seminar takes place on Wednesday 20th May 2009, from 12 noon to 2.15pm, at The Carriage Hall, Perkins Restaurant, Nottingham, and includes lunch.
